” It’s not what you say out of your mouth that determines your life,it’s what you whisper to yourself that has the most power!”
- Robert Kiyosaki.
Have you ever come across a piece of writing that you feel expressed exactly what you had in mind or could totally relate to it? I have bookmarked several of them but the one above changed my whole perspective.
It made me think of Self Image; so what is Self Image ? There are so many definitions but all relate it to how you see yourself. Think about introductions in meetings or gatherings , how do you describe yourself ? ( I will give you a minute) That is the perception you have about yourself. Who wrote an essay about themselves in primary? If you think about it , you probably wrote down facts about yourself .( My name is…….I am nine years old.) Can you rewrite that essay now x years later ?
Your perception about yourself has changed because of experiences, thoughts ,learning and influence. What are your strengths and weakness? What character defines you? Do you believe in yourself? ( I hope you have a few answers to the questions)
How often do you judge yourself? I am not good enough, I can’t do it, It’s so hard , I am lazy anyway……………the list is endless . You either encourage or discourage yourself depending on the situation and therefore need to identify what your feeding your mind because once you start believing it you might never be able to change.
Take time to understand yourself without involving external factors. It is never too late to start telling yourself you can do it, I am beautiful , let me try it out……………………… Become too busy loving yourself to compare yourself with others. Remember that the most cruel criticizer will always be you so change the tone.
My fourth year was the hardest year if I was to compare it with the rest and when I came across this quote ” Life is tough my darling but so are you.” – Stephanie Bennett Henry . I took a sticky note wrote it down signed it off with a kiss and stuck it on the mirror so that everyday when I was getting ready I would always read it. I had no idea how it was changing my perception of everyday life till I read the quote I started this post with.
Till my next post, ” Life is tough my darling but so are you.” – Stephanie Bennett Henry .
