Happy New Month.
I had a lot of mixed feelings about February but I pushed through. The month was full of adventures which were mainly firsts for me. So here is a recap of February.
Birthday Month. I feel like I never get to say that because my birthday is on the 1st of February literally the beginning of the month. I was so excited as the day drew closer but then I suddenly became ill. It did dampen my psych for a while and to make matters worse, my vacation was cancelled. I was really bummed out but eventually, things worked out and I did enjoy myself. My 23rd year was the year to blossom and my 24th year is the year of not holding back.
When I decided that I won’t hold back my aim was to experience the outdoors more often. It was successful because I had a new experience every weekend and honestly I don’t know why I didn’t decide to do this sooner. However, I feel like I will have that moment of when I want to withdraw from the crowd.
My first adventure was zip lining. There are so many tour and travel companies so I just picked one with activities I wanted. The package I chose had zip lining, hiking and archery. This was my first solo trip and I thought I was going to be lonely but I met such amazing people. It even gave me the confidence to travel alone more often because it helps me to interact with others. I almost chickened out on zip lining but the only thing that kept popping in my mind was ‘you have paid and there is no refund.’ As I was being strapped in I started panicking but the minute I jumped off the platform, I wanted to go for more rounds. This specific activity was about letting go and being free. I had to let go of fear.
My second destination was the giraffe centre. I don’t remember going there when I was younger but I know I had been there before. All I wanted was a kiss from the giraffe since I haven’t gotten one in a while. Unfortunately, the giraffe that has learnt the art of kissing was not there. I also had a chance to go for a short nature trail within the area but with the current weather, the river was dry and scenic features like the waterfall couldn’t be seen. I have a short video on the nature trail experience which you can check out.
I finally got to attend a rugby match. I had a lot of reservations because I was putting myself out there once more. I decided not to ask too many questions but instead go without any expectations. It was really exciting, everyone was friendly and yes I was shocked about that. I learnt what the game was about and now I can throw some terms around. My major take away is the energy, you can’t go there and be silent someone will come to talk to you, people are cheering and you eventually have to join in. I think I can confidently say I am now a rugby fan.
So being outdoor has definitely given me the urge to travel and I can’t wait for my March destinations. I am even more confident in going for more solo trips because it pushes me to socialize a bit more. My weekends are not going to be Netflix and chill type of situations.
