Happy New Month,
We all say change is good, which is true, but we never talk about the whole process of adapting to the change. I have learnt a few things while going through some changes this past few months, which I will share. These changes have led to my getting better in some areas but retrogressing in others.
Let me explain:
As I had mentioned I moved to a new town and literally started from zero, something which I was excited about. The whole process was stressful for me because I wanted to rush everything but eventually, I took a step back and decided to do things progressively. If you have lived alone, you probably know on some days you want to be Chef Ali while other days having what should ideally breakfast for supper works. I have to admit that I am a very fussy eater and so it is very important for me to have a schedule. If I skip a meal, chances are I will be snacking more or won’t eat at all which leads to me being physically drained.
Finding a balance has also been a process. I like being busy but I tend to overdo it. Honestly, I don’t know why I always find it hard to just sit and relax. I usually classify chores as relaxing which doesn’t count so I decided to give myself an hour when I get back to the house to just sit and watch something while having a snack then I can do other things later.
Another struggle I am currently facing is being productive. I have a lot of idle time that I cannot account for. I know it sounds like I am contradicting myself but hear me out. So yes I will take an hour to sit and watch something, work out for thirty minutes and then idle, but I need to invest in myself and get back to reading novels and other creative activities I used to enjoy doing. I have never been one to procrastinate but I find myself doing it more and I don’t like it. So that is something I am planning to change and work on.
I still need to work on being able to take a pause so that I don’t burn out or crash at once. Like I said it is all a work in progress and taking it a day at a time.
